Repeat and Recharge
Still making our way through illness, I was very tempted to take a day off from happiness exercises today. But after some thought I decided to repeat the hardwiring exercise, focusing on compassion and kindness. It is easy, especially late in the day, to be focused on my own sickness and fed up with the neediness of children. Instead I want to reinforce the sense of caring that brings me closer to them.
Recharging feels even harder, but I think I’ll keep it small and simple today. I’ll make myself a mug of warm honey lemonade — my parents always used to make that for me when I was unwell — and listen to a newly-discovered piece of classical music that I like.
